The Addison Gallery of American Art
is home to a world-class collection of
American art, offers a vital and adventurous exhibitions program, and is
committed to serving the public through free admission and an
education outreach program that serves diverse audiences. The
museum’s exhibitions are carefully balanced to represent a wide range of
art, across time and media.
EXHIBITIONS: WINTER 2014
An American in London: Whistler and the Thames
brings together
paintings, prints, and drawings from James Abbott McNeill Whistler’s time
in Victorian London, with a particular focus on the Thames

gathersworks in a range of media and time periods by artists

Eye on the Collection: Artful Poses
features works
from the 18th through 21st centuries and explores the many ways that
portraits both capture the presence of an individual and reveal the
shifting social and artistic contexts in which the works have been
created.

from the permanent collection about how artists relate to the natural
environment. The
museum is wheelchair accessible.

BOOMERVENTURE:
BoomerVenture Campus is looking forward to spring with a new
roster of classes and activities aimed at making the most of
the changing of seasons.
At the top of the to-do list for boomers is leading an active lifestyle.
So, it should come as no surprise that fitness is in season at
BoomerVenture as we come into the spring. Acknowledging the need for
reflection and replenishment, BoomerVenture will offer a hands-on "how-to"
for meditation, as well as an opportunity to reflect on nature with the
Clear Water Haiku writing series. Join the fun with our "Spirited Painter"
outing at local Metamorphosis and discover your inner artist (but no
experience necessary!). And for those needing any support in caring for a
loved one as their needs increase, please be sure to contact us about the
four week "Coping With Caregiving" series. This information-rich series
will give you the resources and information you need to carry out the

Boomer Zumba Intervals: Thursdays, February 27 to May 15 at 3:30 p.m. $65.
Combine weight training & cardio fitness as you dance.
Bender Barre: Thursdays, February 27 to May 15 at 6 p.m. $65. Challenging
workout combining elements of Pilates, Yoga and
Serenity Yoga: Thursdays, February 27 to May 15 at 7:15 p.m. $65. Gentle
postures that open the body while quieting the mind. Each class includes
meditation.
Meditation: Thursdays, March 6 to March 27 at 7 to 8:30 p.m. $20. A simple
self-generated relaxation process which brings you to a calm state in only
a few minutes, even in moments of stress. This gentle practice can bring
health benefits & key insights to the surface when practiced regularly.
Coping With Caregiving: Thursdays, April 3 to 24 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Free with registration. Join the experts as they offer vital information
about the challenges & rewards for caring for your loved ones as their
needs increase.
Nordic Walking: Wednesday, April 23 to May 14. 3:50 to 5:15 p.m. $22.Great
aerobic and upper body workout using specially fitted poles to walk AVIS
properties.
The Spirited Painter: Wednesday, April 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. $20.
Pre-register at BoomerVenture campus. Paint and sip your way through a
lovely, relaxing evening. Go home with your own work of art! BYOB. Meet at
Metamorphosis on Essex Street. No previous artist experience required.
Clear Water Haiku: Thursday, May 8 and 15 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. $10. Read,
write and share haiku in this supportive, relaxing workshop. No experience

50+ residents of the Merrimack Valley is a community campus setting to get
fit, relax or learn about the next phases of the boomer life and what Andover has to offer.
